Ms. Carolyn Elizabeth Thompson age 71, of Laurens SC, born August 12, 1952, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Prisma Health Hillcrest Hospital, Simpsonville SC.
Ms. Thompson was the daughter of the late Oswald (OB) and Betty S. Thompson. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was Jaliyah Kaylee Henry, Great-granddaughter.
Ms. Thompson was affectionately known as “Cal” by all her loved ones and friends, she attended Sanders High School of the Laurens County Public School System. She retired from Jostens and worked for the Laurens District 55 school system. She was very passionate about caring for and nurturing her family members and others throughout the local community. She loved to bake and cook. Ms. Thompson was a long-time, faithful member of Springfield Baptist Church, Laurens SC.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Jacquetta L. Thompson of Laurens SC. "Cal" will also be truly missed by her three brothers Derrick Thompson of Laurens, SC, Russell Thompson (Gloria) of Fountain Inn SC, and Michael Thompson of Gray Court SC; two sisters, Katherine Thompson of Laurens, SC, and Donna Thompson Suber of Greenville SC; her grandchildren, Jasmine Walker, Jaoswa Walker, and Jalin Walker; and one great-grandchild, Ja'lon K. Henry. She also leaves behind Zanyria Allen and Quentasha Blakley of the home; her nieces, Valerie Thompson Henderson (Antonio), Towanda Thompson, Takemia Thompson, and Shanika Choice; her nephews, Russell Thompson Jr and Jason Hunter, and four great nieces and three great-nephews. There are also three Godchildren, Jalair Leamon, Justin Beasley-Jones, London Cunningham; Sarah C. Beasley, who was just like a mother to her, and a host of other family members and friends.
The family will receive visitors at 529 Green St, Laurens SC.
Floyd Family Funeral Home will be responsible for all arrangements. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 , 11am – 5 pm at Floyd Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 2pm at Springfield Baptist Church. Reverend Bryant Cheek will deliver the eulogy. Internment will follow immediately after service at Jersey Cemetery in Laurens, SC .
