Betty Stoddard Obituary
Betty Jean Stoddard, a beloved resident of Gray Court, SC, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14th, 2024 at Greenville Prisma Health Hospital surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 87. Born in Laurens, SC, on Saturday, July 31st, 1937, Betty was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Betty attended the Laurens County School District public school system. After graduating high school, she moved to New York for 13 years until relocating back to South Carolina. She contributed her talents to Kemet, where she worked as a production employee until her retirement. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her family and community.
A devoted member of the Stoddard Christian Interdenominational Church, Betty's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found joy in the simple pleasures of shopping and cooking, and she poured her love into caring for her grandchildren, with whom she shared countless treasured memories.
Betty is survived by her five daughters, Evelyn Stoddard Duncan, Kathleen Stoddard Tims, Beverly (Thomas) Mearite, Tangie (Henry) Stoddard-Choice, all residing in Gray Court, SC and Rita (Junior) Huckeba, residing in Clayton, NC. She also leaves behind her great-grandson, Soloman Stoddard of the home; her sister-in-law, Sadie Stoddard of Waterloo, SC; her step-sister, Ola Coker of Syracuse, NY; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ellington Stoddard; her parents, Johnny Mosley and Sallie Workman; her daughter, Angela Stoddard-Kelly; her sister, Carrie Baker; and her brothers, John Mosley, Willie Mosley, George Mosley, Cornell Mosley, and Bobby Mosley.
A visitation to celebrate Betty's life will be held at Stoddard Christian Interdenominational Church in Gray Court, SC, on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 from 2pm - 6pm. A private graveside ceremony will be conducted for immediate family members to honor her memory.
Arrangements are being handled with care by Floyd Family Funeral Home. Betty's warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, inspiring those she touched to live life with compassion and grace.
