Thomas Coleman, Jr., age 80, of Greenville, South Carolina, was called to his eternal home by his Lord and Savior on October 12, 2025.
Known fondly as “June,” Mr. Coleman was born January 25, 1945, in Laurens, South Carolina to the late Thomas Coleman and Sammie Mae Pasley Coleman.
He attended the public schools of Laurens, South Carolina. Prior to his illness, he was an active member of the former Bibleway Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, where he served God and continued to grow in his faith. Although his illness diminished his memory, he knew and loved the Lord and continued to praise and worship Him.
Mr. Coleman faithfully served as a life member of the International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, Inc. and Order of the Eastern Star. In the A/C Court #029 Youth Department, he served as the Youth Grand Master for the Art Gray Youth Grand Court for South Carolina, and the National District Youth Grand Master for Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
He was a founder of the RoadRunner Social Club in support of inner-city children and was a member of the Shriners Club. He was an avid car lover and was employed in various capacities within the automobile industry. Some of his favorite pastimes included car racing, golfing, and traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers and two sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He leaves to cherish his wife, Sandra Black Coleman of Greenville, South Carolina; one daughter, Bertah Mae Carson (Mallery and Munich) of Greenville, South Carolina; a son, Travis Barksdale of Laurens, South Carolina; many children he loved and reared as his own: Letorra Johnson Onyechi (Lawrence), Latonya Johnson, Ice Berg Johnson, Julius D. Johnson, Jermaine Johnson, Robert Jackson (April), Roderick Jackson, and Ronnie Jackson; nineteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who love and miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 1 PM at Floyd Family Funeral Home Chapel, 202 South Caroline Street, Laurens, South Carolina. Reverend Larry Chapman of St. Paul First Baptist Church of Laurens, South Carolina will officiate.
Interment will be held at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Laurens SC immediately following the service.
