Mr. Albert Gene Young, Sr., was born in Laurens, South Carolina on Thursday, April 3, 1951 and passed away in Charlotte, North Carolina on December 22, 2022.
Mr. Young was the son of the late Mr. Isaiah Davis and Mrs. Georgia Ruth Davis. Preceeding in his death, in addition to his parents, were his wife Mrs. Jessie Ruth Young and their children: Mrs. Barbara Jean Hall and Mr. Albert Gene Young, Jr.: four brothers: Mr. Bobby Lewis Davis, Mr. Willie J. Davis, Mr. Roosevelt Davis and Mr. George Davis and one sister Sara Mae Simpson.
Mr. Young was educated in the Laurens County School System. He pursued various careers ending with his employment with JD Tree and Landscaping Company. He loved life and was a protector of his family and friends.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory seven grandchildren: Ms. Christine Young, Ms. Sha’Quarius Day, Mr. Kurtis (Ashley) Hall and Mr. Aaron Hall of Greenwood, South Carolina. Ms. Ashley Young, Ms. Benita Young, Ms. Jessica Young of Laurens, South Carolina. Five Sisters: Mrs. Brenda (JD) Cunningham, Ms. Shirley Montgomery, both of Laurens, SC, Ms. Minnie Wrapp, Greenwood, SC , Ms. Wanda Williams, Columbia, SC, and Mrs. Kathy Chappelle of Greenville, SC, one aunt: Mrs. Mildred Hope of Charlotte, NC: two brother-in-laws: Mr. Charlie(Sheliah) Lyons of Laurens, SC, Mr. James (Anne) Lyons of Clinton, SC, five Sisters-in-Law: Mrs. Betty Miller of Cold Point, SC, Mrs. Lillie (John) Smith of Waterloo, SC, Mrs. Linda Mims, Mrs. Brenda (Lawrence) Irby both of Laurens, SC and Mrs. Elizabeth Chapman of Gray Court, SC: a step daughter Mrs. Rosa (Cornelle) Tribble of Greenville, SC, step-sons: Mr. Freddie (Wanda) Young of Greenwood, SC and Mr. Eric Young of Brevard, FL: 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends.
The family will take visitors at: 685 Woodbury Drive, Laurens SC. The memorial service is Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Floyd Family Funeral Home in Laurens beginning at 2pm. Evangelist Elizabeth Chapman, of Campbell Baptist Church will be the officiating minister
